The journey into LEEDv5 O+M: From Pilot to multiple Projects

Three LEED Fellows and distinguished speakers from Latin America will share their experiences and lessons learned from certifying projects under the new LEED O+M v5 system. These speakers represent three of the five globally certified projects under the latest version of the LEED Operations and Maintenance rating system, making this session a unique opportunity to gain insights into the certification process from diverse regional perspectives. Two of the speakers are from Mexico, where they will highlight how the LEED v5 standards were implemented in the operations of a highrise and an industrial facility, focusing on energy efficiency, water conservation, and occupant well-being—key pillars of the new system. They will discuss the role of data-driven performance tracking and the impact of LEED v5’s enhanced focus on human health and resilience in buildings. The third speaker, from Brazil, will share how the LEED v5 O+M certification was applied to a sustainable building project in Brazil. They will focus on sustainable site management, resource conservation, and how the updated system’s emphasis on resilience helped improve the overall building performance and long-term sustainability. Throughout the session, the speakers will explore the positive impact of LEED v5 on operational efficiency and the value it brings to both building owners and occupants. They will discuss how adapting to this new system has contributed to their projects' continued sustainability goals and the broader role of LEED v5 in fostering green building practices across Latin America.
