Information

We have entered a new era of work, where hybrid models, burnout, and employer concerns over productivity intersect. As workplace expectations evolve, the demand for offices that truly support employee well-being has never been higher. Beyond perks like free lunches and yoga, companies need measurable strategies that enhance health and productivity. This is where design professionals can lead, using WELL certification to provide proof—not just promises—of workplace well-being. With Americans living longer but not necessarily healthier, there is growing national attention on reducing chronic disease. WELL v2 offers evidence-based, business-backed strategies to improve air and water quality, nourishment, and overall health. If work was harming us in 2019, 2025 must be about creating workplaces that actively support well-being. This session explores how architecture firms are transforming their offices through WELL certification. Featuring WELL-certified firms—Lake|Flato (Platinum), CookFox (Platinum), and Perkins&Will Dallas (Gold)—this panel will provide a behind-the-scenes look at how they met WELL v2 standards to improve employee health, productivity, and firm culture. Moderated by a representative from the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), the discussion will cover WELL’s 10 concepts, the challenges of certification across different office types, and long-term maintenance of WELL features. The panel will also share post-occupancy insights, highlighting WELL’s impact on workplace health. Attendees will leave with practical knowledge on navigating WELL certification, from retrofits to new construction, and its business and cultural benefits. The session will conclude with a moderated discussion and Q&A, offering attendees the opportunity to ask specific questions about implementation, re-certification, and integration with LEED.
