Information

Decarbonizing the built environment requires a seamless integration between global policy, corporate strategy, and engineering execution. As we enter the "ESG Implementation Era", the industry faces a critical delivery gap.

This session brings together the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC), Verdani Partners, and Petinelli to map out the investment journey needed to achieve Net Zero at scale.

WorldGBC kicks off the discussion with a global reality check. They will provide a status update on the Advancing Net Zero commitment, bringing attention to the major challenges we are facing. They will also outline the emerging policy frameworks that are starting to shift capital flows, explaining how regulatory pressure is reshaping market expectations.

Next, Verdani Partners bridges the gap to the US market, tackling the issue at a strategic level. They will demonstrate how leading real estate portfolios are translating these global policies into actionable decarbonization plans. We will explore how US companies are managing climate risk across large-scale portfolios to avoid obsolescence and protect value.

Then, we move to the proof of concept. Petinelli presents the Adventist Education case study in Brazil. A signatory of the Net Zero Carbon Buildings Commitment that turned promises into action, we will detail how they executed deep retrofits across 21 buildings in 18 different cities. Impacting over 18,500 students, the project achieved Net Zero Energy and eliminated USD 300,000 in annual energy costs. Crucially, they funded this transition by securing over USD 2 million in non-repayable grants, accelerating their 2030 roadmap.

Throughout the session, participants will learn how data-driven benchmarking and financial engineering made these results possible. We aim to prove that when policy, strategy, and engineering align, decarbonization stops being just a cost and becomes a smart, profitable investment.
