Information
Any design that is well informed starts with site analysis: the existing conditions and surroundings of the site. In today’s workflows, many designers are still manually tracing from satellite images and depending on CAD files with layers of vector data that are difficult to use. At the core of GIS lies the ability to create data and context for anywhere in the world, and to analyze tangible and intangible information about a site and its surroundings. In this session, we will explore how leveraging basic and more advanced GIS (from simple analyses to machine learning) can support the creation of context data, site analysis, and bringing this information into any design environment.
