Concrete Masonry Checkoff Presents: The Next Chapter in Concrete Masonry and Embodied Carbon New Research

This session presents recent research on concrete masonry unit (CMU) embodied carbon and sequestration, and shows how design choices affect the carbon intensity of CMU assemblies through LCA studies. It clarifies why dry-cast CMU warrants distinct treatment in carbon accounting and highlights co-benefits: resilience, thermal mass, circularity, and local manufacturing.
