Information

LEED v5 represents a fundamental shift in how project teams design, deliver, and operate buildings, elevating expectations for human experience, real‑world performance, and accountability over time. But how does that shift translate into real project delivery? Through three project case studies, including LEED v5 ID+C delivery, the first LEED v5 O+M Platinum project in the U.S., and an active BD+C project transitioning from LEED v4 to v5 during design and permitting, this session brings together the first project teams implementing LEED v5 across multiple rating systems to explore how the new requirements are being operationalized in practice. This session brings together the first project teams to share candid, on‑the‑ground lessons learned. Presenters include a sustainability leader implementing LEED v5 ID+C, an engineering and operations specialist leading the first LEED v5 O+M Platinum project in the U.S., a director of sustainability, and an owner-operator navigating a live transition from LEED v4 BD+C to v5 during design and permitting. A USGBC representative will moderate, connecting real-world execution to the rating system’s policy intent. Rather than reviewing credit checklists, this session provides candid, experience-based insight into governance shifts, procurement updates, staff training investments, and performance management strategies required to meet LEED v5’s intent. Attendees will leave with practical frameworks for evaluating readiness, navigating LEED v4 sunset transitions, and aligning design, construction, and operations teams to deliver accountable, performance-driven outcomes under LEED v5. This session is ideal for owners, designers, engineers, and sustainability professionals seeking real‑world clarity on what it takes to move from LEED v4 to v5 with confidence.

Learning Objective #1
Upon completion, participants will be able to analyze how LEED v5 BD+C, ID+C, and O+M requirements shift project priorities toward occupant health, performance outcomes, and operational accountability.
Learning Objective #2
Upon completion, participants will be able to identify key challenges and strategies when transitioning from LEED v4 to LEED v5, including documentation restructuring, carbon baseline alignment, and workflow coordination.
Learning Objective #3
Upon completion, participants will be able to develop a framework to prepare teams (including designers, contractors, operators) to meet LEED v5 performance expectations through workforce upskilling, data-monitoring, and governance alignment.
Learning Objective #4
Upon completion, participants will be able to apply lessons learned from early LEED v5 projects to inform their own project planning, team training, and certification strategy.
