Information

The LEED v5 rating system shakes things up and offers project teams a new and exciting approach to the materials credits. But where do teams start, and how will they be successful? Join us for a lively session focused on collaborative implementation of three of the LEED v5 BD+C materials credits (Low Emitting Materials, Building Product Selection and Procurement, and Construction and Demolition Waste Diversion).

Our panel of experts with varied backgrounds will share their insights and best practices for applying and documenting the materials credits. This how-to session will cover credit challenges, maximizing the selection of multi-attribute materials using the Common Materials Framework, writing clear specifications, and how contractors and sub-contractors can approach materials procurement and tracking in v5. We see embedded design and construction team collaboration as a key component for success, and this will be integrated into our dynamic discussion.

Presenters will share the tools and processes they have developed over the past year (with downloadable tools as take-home content). This will include front end base spec sections, a LEED v5 submittal reporting form, v5 spec language for technical sections, and visual guides. These tools can be used right away to assist participants as they begin their v5 projects. As a case study, a successful v4.1 project has been imported into a v5 materials calculator, to show the differences and challenges between the rating systems.

This session will help participants navigate the material requirements and equip them with valuable tools and knowledge needed to successfully leverage the new v5 rating system.
