Description:

A multidisciplinary team of an air quality expert, a building controls leader, and a cancer-curing scientist will review the latest in facility health standards, showcase how to prescribe treatment for air quality issues; and share case studies from the field of building performance monitoring. Dr. Marwa Zaatari promises an exploration of ASHRAE Standard 241 and the latest updates to ASHRAE Standard 62.1. With infectious aerosol control at the forefront, she discusses groundbreaking strategies to reduce disease transmission indoors while championing hybrid ventilation approaches for enhanced IAQ, sustainability, and resilience. Dr. Zaatari's insights align ASHRAE and LEED V5 credits and offer a roadmap for transformative change in indoor air quality and health. Dr. Carl Peterson guides through the science of prescribing comprehensive treatment for indoor air quality (IAQ) issues, emphasizing continuous Measurement & Verification (M&V). Drawing from his medical practice, Dr. Peterson offers practical guidelines, technology insights, and cost-effective solutions. He will review bio-contaminants and discuss chemical-free cleaning and disinfection procedures such as filtration, photocatalytic reactions, UVGI, and multi-modality treatments. Experience existing buildings through the eyes of a building controls and integration practitioner. Drawing from real-world experiences, Ike Beyer offers practical insights for optimizing IAQ while also safeguarding the safety of Facility Occupants and Operations & Maintenance staff. He will delve into the crucial role that wireless smart sensors play in informing evidence based design and treatment of indoor air quality issues. Ike is focused on achieving the requirements of New York’s Local Law 97 and will showcase real-time sensor data from a New York commercial building. Attendees will gain an understanding of how to approach IAQ issues with a concurrent focus on reducing HVAC energy use and emerge from the session with a holistic perspective on enhancing indoor air quality, energy efficiency, and the life of a facility’s mechanical infrastructure.
